Pregnancy
Heartburn is a common complaint during pregnancy. During pregnancy, the digestive tract does not work as well as usual. It is essential that the digestive tract functions well to prevent high blood pressure, which should be avoided during pregnancy . In Ayurveda, increased "vata" is responsible for increased blood pressure. It is important to keep 'vata' in balance. Digestion is one of the most important factors in increased vata. If the digestive system doesn't work well, vata increases and blood pressure increases with it.
The herbs in Aci-Calm, especially the pepper varieties, ginger and cardamom (also a member of the ginger family), ensure that the digestive system works well. Ginger is particularly suited to use during pregnancy. During pregnancy, it is also extremely important to regulate fluid levels.
Pregnancy can cause an imbalance between the absorption and excretion of natrium (a component of salt). This can lead to raised blood pressure and oedemas. For this reason we have added Asparagus racemosus. Asparagus is a diuretic which helps the body rid itself of salt, thus preventing increased blood pressure and oedemas.
